Wytheville Community College (WCC) recently held a graduation ceremony for its sixth cohort of Industrial Maintenance students.
The program, designed to certify students in industrial maintenance technology, offers certifications in electrical, mechanical, fluid power, sensors, PLC, and robotics. Thirteen students completed a semester-long program and were recognized during a ceremony in WCC’s Snyder Auditorium on May 20, 2025. Four students from Wythe County Public Schools received their certificate in Industrial Maintenance Fundamentals – Level 1. In WCC’s adult Industrial Maintenance program, four WCC students completed Industrial Maintenance Fundamentals – Level 1 and 5 adult students that returned to complete the Industrial Maintenance Applied – Level 2 certificate. The 13 students earned over 150 FESTO, Snap-on, and Greenlee certifications through NC3.
Mr. Neal King is WCC’s Coordinator of Industrial Maintenance Training. The new cohort for the program begins in August 2025. Mr. King said of his graduates, “I am so proud to be a part of this opportunity to help provide training for students to get new or better jobs and service the industry in the area. I am excited to see these students succeed by using these new skills.” King mentioned that there are many financial aid opportunities for these students so they may be able to leave the program debt-free.
Students and employers who are interested in the Industrial Maintenance Program or other short-term training classes should contact Lisa Lowe, WCC Workforce Development Credentials and Career Coach, at (276) 223-4717 or llowe@wcc.vccs.edu.
